New Leader Fast Track
A Fast Track to Productivity for New Leaders

While the announcement of a new executive or manager from outside a team can arouse a range of emotions among team members – hope, uncertainty, anxiety among them – it is a time ripe with possibility: A small window of opportunity to get on solid ground and set a productive tone for the future.

Many new leaders, particularly from the outside, are not given the support they need to maximize their effectiveness (and the company’s investment) with their teams.  In fact, more than 70% of newly hired senior executives leave their positions within the first two years, at great expense to the company.  It doesn’t have to be this way.

The New Leader Fast Track is a process designed to help new executives and managers in transition to “hit the ground running” and deliver results within the first 100 days in a new assignment.  During the first weeks of new manager’s arrival, we conduct online assessments as well as interviews with team members about expectations, communication preferences and key business issues.  Then we analyze the data and work with the new leader to develop a “go forward” plan that addresses business issues, relationship gaps, and leadership development goals.  This intervention is especially appropriate for:

  • First-time managers
  • High-potential executives / managers moving into a new role
  • New executives / managers responsible for leading change
  • As a stand-alone program or as the foundation of an ongoing coaching relationship, the New Leader Fast Track will…

  • Uncover key issues
  • Align the team on key objectives
  • Strengthen working relationships
  • Accelerate the “getting to know you” process
  • Minimize future misunderstandings
  • Correct negative perceptions from the past
  •

    New Leader Fast Track Includes:
  • Leadership Development Assessment (online)
  • 1 hour interviews with new direct report team, hiring manager and key customers (if appropriate)
  • Coaching session with hiring boss to understand role, responsibilities and transition expectations
  • 1-3 Coaching sessions with new executive / manager
  • ½ day – 1 day session with direct report team and new executive / manager
  • Follow-up coaching session.
